international food

(Since my internet didn't work yesterday, I'll publish yesterday's article now)

Today my french roommate Agnès mad crepes for us, a french specialty. With having roommates from different nationalities (one is French as I already mentioned, and the other one is Russian) I already learned a lot about their cultures. Cooking, especially the different ways of how you prepare different kind of food is very interesting. In Austria you prepare chicken mostly in the oven or on the grill, while in Russia you rather cook it in a pot or a pan. One of the greatest food experiences I had here so far was bortscht, a Russian soup. I never have eaten that spoup prepard by a real russian before. She told me that in Russia you always put either Creme Fraiche or mayonaise in the soup. I also learned that you never eat that soup by yourself. You always eat it with a salat.
More stories about my cultural experiences so far will follow in the next days.
